Favorite Things on the Internet Today

Carrie Nation: Every time I overindulge, I start talking about vicious hell brew and the demon liquor and threaten to channel Carrie Nation by tossing a hatchet over my shoulder and greeting bartenders with a hearty, “Good morning, destroyer of men’s souls!”

Bonus: Her husband fought bravely in the Jaybird-Woodpecker War of 1889. (Heh.)

~~

Metalia meets Lupe, the Underwear Personalizing, Tiny-Butted Lady: Or at least her thong.

~~

The Arrested Development Chicken Dance: I’m a sucker for a good chicken dance. (via the lovely No Pasa Nada)

~~

Everything is Amazing, Nobody is Happy: Well worth the four minutes. Actually, well worth the 16 minutes if you’re like me and watch it over and over, snickering like a mentally-incompetent pea hen. Also, I remember rotary phones. I think that makes me old.

If you have any internet favorites, please share. I’m confined to my fainting couch and need all the entertainment I can muster. Your good computer karma thanks you.

Well I just caught myself laughing at a marker called in part “Marks-A-Lot” so you may question my taste, however I recommend:

The Comics Curmudgeon – you may already know about this, it’s hardly a secret

Clark & Michael – a web show Michael Cera did that I actually haven’t watched yet, but I assume it’s good –

Also I suggest searching Dylan Moran on youtube. He’s an Irish comedian that is hysterical and really, really cute.

And thanks for the chicken dance video. I love those guys. Yeah for the movie!!

P.S. Sorry about the monster hangover/flu, but at least it wasn’t whatever the advice nurse thought you had! Because that must have been bad.

I am a big fan of The Straight Dope. In fact, I’m such a fan that I’ve been sitting here hitting “random” for almost three days in an attempt to come to terms with my lack of painkillers and then the abrupt return of same, which incidentally is to blame for this ridiculous run-on sentence.

I also like this paper on language and perception. I re-read it every time I have one of those faux-stoner “dude, what if my green is really your red” moments.

This video has made my entire week: http://vimeo.com/3718294

And whenever I need to cry happy tears, I watch this video, (watch *all* of it, it is magic!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oy1uWAm4SnI

This (http://www.metacafe.com/watch/yt-DpA2tMrQ4RU/kitty_cat_dance/) had me laughing for DAYS, but maybe just because I love cats…

And this one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHXBL6bzAR4&feature=recommended) is also cat-related, but very funny.

    Hope you feel better soon!

I am too sleepy to think of my faves. But I wanted to tell you that I remember not only rotary phones but also living in a town in which calling another person required only four digits. FOUR.

I got nothin’ for you. I am equally confined and overdosing on movies and internets.

Thanks so much to everyone for the delightful, gafawing respite. Some very funny stuff out in the ether.

Thank you for the “Everything is Amazing….No One is Happy” clip. It has helped to crystallize some thought that I have been having.

I also love the “Everything is amazing” clip. And I remember those rotary phones, so I must be old too.

After careful consideration, I’ve decided that the Cats as Described by Engineers video submitted by nicolien is my favorite. You didn’t know it was a contest, did you? NEITHER DID I, UNTIL JUST NOW. Apparently, I’m in a competitive mood.

Seriously, though. That cat video is excellent. And I’m a dog person.

I LOVE the cat engineer video… I AM a cat person and it’s so spot on it’s crazy.

But to raise it up a bit…

    Here’s an engineer’s dog:

Hope you are on the mend, Moose.
