Nothing Says Christmas Like a Plastic Cockroach
Posted by Moose on December 25th, 2008. Filed under: Holidays.Hope you all had a merry holiday, full of Christmas miracles. Like retaining your svelte calves after gleefully slugging down sausage logs, brandied ‘nog, and the mysterious chocolates that turn out to be full of coconut, requiring the ever-subtle seasonal napkin spit. Not to imply that we’re subtle in this house, because OH HOW WE ARE NOT. My brother received a beribboned red bag full of plastic cockroaches this year – plastic cockroaches that soon made an appearance on the wall (thanks to convenient adhesive!), next to the apple cider, and in the Christmas ham. How festive.
Speaking of ham, I’m feeling a bit fat in the haunch at the moment. All my Christmas miracles got used up in whatever holy forces helped me finish my knitting in time to wrap everything up and toss it under the tree, so no miraculous events were left for my thighs. Three glasses of wine (and maybe a couple sticks of butter) (for their greasing properties) will be required to get me into my bathing suit tomorrow night. Or maybe I’ll just wear my flannel pajamas in the hot tub.
I leave for Tahoe at 6 a.m. tomorrow. Mounds of fluffy snow, a writhing dog, the aforementioned hot tub, and many bottles of wine await. I hope you all have similar lovely things in your immediate future. Like tasty leftovers. Minus the coconut and plastic cockroaches.

I would have LOVED to see the plastic cockroaches! Oh, to think of the places those things will go! (A certain giggle is in my head right now, and it’s not mine.)
Hope you are feeling healthy already!

Can’t wait to hear all about Tahoe.
(And did I miss something? Writhing dog?)

SO glad the roaches made your blog. That made my day! Happy skiing…

I would never put a bathing suit on in December. Flannel pants sound like an excellent idea!
Have a great time in Tahoe!

Color me jealous of your hot tub proximity, even though my thighs should be nowhere near a bathing suit right now. I think I’d just get in in the pants.
Happy New Year!

What? No photos of said cockroaches running amok in your family’s holiday feast? LOL
One year, I gave my Secret Santa recipient at work a Chinese take-out container full of live crickets from the pet store. Fortunately, he did not accidentally spill them indoors.
