This breaks my heart, too, something awful.
When Domestic Partner and I had a huge fight, the late, great pug, Caesar was 13. DP wanted me to move out. I said that I would, but please let me stay until Caesar finishes living his life – I couldn’t abandon the old guy during his last few months. He was the closest thing to ever having a son, as well as a tactile representation of my inner child.
(P.S. I didn’t move out, even after Caesar had to be put down nine months later).

After one particularly heart-wrenching breakup I started missing an entire state. I thought I was losing my mind, but I missed the physical place, and he was really the only reason I would ever have to visit it.

Thanks everyone. It was really hard to leave the Meeka Dog, but necessary. I honestly just try not to think about it.

Can I just say that you totally should have that dog? I remember reading your first post about the break-up and I kept thinking, Moose had better get the pup.

When I dated the chef, he had a dog, Mikey, who was like mine. I took care of Mikey when chef was working or golfing (which was all the time). When we broke up, no more mikey. I miss mikey more than the ex boyfriend.

I don’t know what I would do if I divorced my husband – share custody? I’m not that well-balanced though, I’d probably run off with the pup in the middle of the night
