The Moose Has a High Tolerance For Prosecco

Posted by Moose on May 28th, 2007. Filed under: Travel.

I kid. There is no tolerance for prosecco here. But when you consume bottles with dinner on a fairly regular basis, it seems reasonable to assume that I will return home able to drink under the table, if not a hardened booze hound, at least the 15 year old across the street.

When I decided to haul a stuffed moose around Italy with me, I thought it might be fun and perhaps a bit obnoxious (which, I’m sorry to say, generally enhances my fun), but I had no idea how much the stuffed animal photo shoots would add to my trip.

Just look at that face:

I’m thinking of framing that photo, it delights me so. As does the memory of the French tourist we caught tap dancing in front of a medieval monument while her friend took a picture. When we were spotted, they both looked embarrassed and scurried off. Until the same French tourists saw me positioning the moose on a city wall and were, I like to think, charmed. I smiled nice and big at them and basked in the international ridiculousness. Then I was told I had large hunks of chicken in my teeth. Maybe they were less charmed than revolted by the American’s obvious lack of floss.

Here we have an actual recognizable landmark. Though it’s possible I only recognize it because I was there two days ago. And already I’ve forgotten what it’s called. When I ask, “Hey, what’s this again?”, I am filled with the foreboding sense that perhaps I shouldn’t be demanding this knowledge of the internet when I myself would be hard-pressed to name a place I JUST VISITED. Also, the person I just asked tends to need a hearty smack on the forehead because his eyes have rolled so far back into his head they got stuck.

Another recognizable landmark I can’t remember!

The moose, in pleasant contemplationg of the wine that will be (and has been) drunk. If you can name the region here, I bow to you. (Hint: There’s a wine named after it.)

Great post! I needed some entertainment. I’m on call for the hospital all night (and day tomorrow), so I hope you all will overlook my extreme nerdiness when I say, “I know the answers!!!” I’ll email them this time, to see if I’m right, so that someone else can still guess.
If I were Italian, or had at least at some point BEEN TO ITALY, it would not be so nerdy for me to know the answers. No, I really am not a nerd – it’s just my mad-Google-skills!

You are in Italy! Wow, one can miss quite a lot when she randomly disappears from the Blogosphere for no apparent reason. I’m totally coveting your grape-vine view in that first picture. Who am I kidding? I’m coveting that entire trip.
