It Was the Pirate Episode…Which Totally Rules

Our next door neighbor, the man who adores our dog and watches her when we’re away, was on an episode of Mythbusters a few weeks ago. I think he was explaining canvas. I’m not sure how much explanation canvas really needs, but I should probably shut my trap. Since I’m not an authority on anything except feeding the dog Altoids and laughing hysterically as she spits them across the room.

Feeling the need to brag to someone who might care, I messaged a friend. If you click through that link, you’ll discover exactly why he cares. Namely, a massive crush on Kari Byron that manifests itself in downloaded pictures and deep, deep longing.

I told him, in perhaps too excited a manner, “My next door neighbor was in the same room with Kari Byron! And I’ve been in the same room with my neighbor! And you’ve been in the same room with me! YOU’RE SO CLOSE YOU COULD PRACTICALLY LICK HER CHEEK!” I would have referenced another body part he could lick, but he has a girlfriend – a very cute, redheaded girlfriend who could totally kick my ass.

    When i first started looking for pics of Kari Byron on the internet a few years back, nuclearbeef.com was the first site i came across. It’s still one of the best sites for Kari Byron fans.

    Did I just break my court restraining order? I just googled her on the net, hence your proximity to your neighbor who appeared on the show may have the cops knocking at my door! DAMN!

    I tried that keep-one-eye-covered trick from that episode, and it’s creepy-awesome. Ever since seeing that episode, if I wake up in the middle of the night & can’t get back to sleep, I keep one eye covered while I do whatever I’m feeling the need to do in the middle of the night, and then when I’m set to go back to sleep, bang! I switch eyes. It’s like having a night vision goggle on one eye. It’s actually kind of unnerving, because it feels like the eye that wasn’t covered has suddenly gone blind.

    My friends have a really cool tiki bar in Alameda; we’ve been hoping that someone from the Mythbusters crew will swing by sometime, since they do so much stuff there on the island, but so far, no cigar.
