Love = x

Scenario One:

“Here is an unmistakable sign of my deep, deep love for you. It’s even on a platter.”

“Um. That’s a burrito.”

Scenario Two:

“Did you get that email I sent you? The one that proclaimed my affection and why?”

“I was busy so I skimmed it. Did it say anything important?”

Internet, I would try to demonstrate my adoration in whatever fashion you understand, except that 1. I struggle with sweeping the floors in my own house and 2. You would be scared if I showed up on your doorstep with a broom and asked for your dirtiest floor.

It’s so nice to hear that you folks have similar problems. Hard evidence in the comment section that proclaims I am not a freak (or that I am, but not because of this) is worth a lot to me. Somehow it means more coming from real people, rather than those pretend people who write self help books. Communication is a bitch, especially when to one a burrito equals concern for welfare and deep affection, and to the other it still just looks like beans wrapped in a tortilla.

Since it doesn’t so much matter how you see love, just that you do, I would like it noted that I swept the floor this weekend. I even vacuumed. OH, HOW I AM GROWING. Then I went and ate all the leftover steak without sharing, but I still call it a win.

    the other thing that we do is have middle ground ways of communicating our love for each other… essentially code words or secret handshakes that we pull out that only we understand means, “hey – in case I haven’t told you/made burritos/swept the floor lately, i really do love you and am very lucky to have you in my life.”
