People who blather on pretentiously about the novel they're writing make me want to stab myself in the face. (And for some reason there seem to be a lot of those sorts -- it's really a testament to my restraint that my face is still intact.) I’m glad you’re having so much fun writing! It's such a dull conclusion to have come to because I really just want to BE GOOD at it. Anne Lamott is a genius at driving this point home. I admire your committed attempt at fiction. I find it really difficult to make things up that are remotely interesting or believable. If it makes you feel any better, I wouldn't just read your novel/book/short story but I would BUY it. But only if it's $19.99 or less. Or on sale.
