The Dog, She Is (Less) Scarred (Than I Hoped)
Posted by Moose on November 1st, 2006. Filed under: Tis the Season.Halloween is merely an excuse to decorate things that are really just fine without decoration. (My ass? Did not need 63 caramel hershey’s kisses, thanks.)
Flash photography is for wimps
Taken before hordes of children morphed into costumed piranhas and swarmed all over the candy bowl. Handing out candy on Halloween is like covering yourself in peanut butter and diving into a shark tank. My consitution may not be equal to this holiday.
I’m especially fond of the white skull lights draped over the door. Turns out, the green skull is a great deal less spooky when his battery gives out. We also stabbed a bloody knife into the bowl of candy. No one was scared. Older children just asked if they could have it. “No, you can’t have it you greedy monkey! Scram!” Halloween makes me a curmudgeon. I enjoy this.
Because I am just this cruel
I dressed the dog as her arch-nemesis, The Cat. My cruel joke was somewhat unsatisfying as I’m not sure she even noticed. Perhaps I should have rubbed the cat ears on the hindquarters of a real cat first, to make sure the dog understood the level of humiliation to which she was being subjected. Also…
Not much difference really
Meeka looks exactly the same without the cat ears as she does with the cat ears.
Three seconds before she started licking the candy and we decided no one would notice and handed it out anyway
Drunk on the sweet, sweet candy

I feel just like Meeka today. So much yummy candy everywhere. I don’t think I could have resisted all those cute little boxes of Nerds either.
p.s. What breed is Meeka? She is very cute.

Hi Jess!
Look out, you’ve introduced one of my favorite topics. Meeka is part Boxer, part Aquita. We think. She’s very cute and very sweet – which is really all that matters. Not to mention talented. (Apparently she has learned how to open packages of Whoppers.)

Another Jess chiming in.
Cute doggie! We tried dressing ours a few years ago, and she hasn’t let us forget it ever since.
What cracks me up about trick-or-treaters are the kids who reach into your bowl of candy for more after you’ve already dropped 3 pieces of chocolate into their bag. Greedy stinkers!

Meeka’s sweets-drunken eyes are priceless!

My husband wouldn’t let me dress up our dogs for Hallowe’en – the most I can get away with is flashing reindeer ears at Christmas before he rolls his eyes at me. (and to be truthful, most costumes wouldn’t fit them anyway since they’re too big) Your dog looks adorable! Boxer and aquita sounds like an interesting combination!

The whole dogs hate cats thing is overblown. They just like to chase cats. It’s purely sport.

november decided the little costume was a BAD idea and his claws made is real clear,
dogs are so much easier
but how can you resisit a 100% black cat on halloween!
p.s. i liked the fake ears on the dog that was great, you need to do that more often, but get like the arrow through the noggen and stuff like that. CLASSIC
