I think about the cookies I owe you every time I help myself to another handful of the chocolate chips. The chocolate chips I bought specifically for your cookies. I think about them every time I sit down on the couch to watch So You Think You Can Dance. Which, for those of you thinking I’m a Lazy Cookie Promising Wench Who Totally Shirks Her Cookie Making Duties (which is completely true), has happened exactly once.
I hereby promise to make and send your cookies soon.

hey now – watching So You Think you Can Dance is a PERFECTLY ACCEPTABLE excuse! How COOL was it last night huh? Totally awesome!
The only thing that would have made me happier would have been chocolate chips. I applaud your decision.

Yes, totally acceptable. What can one expect winning a contest where there were no hoops to go through? No agony, no dashed hopes? Just gleeful reward. I feel that the wait for the prize allows time for the the karmic scales to be righted.
Anyway, my neighbors are having lots of fun watching me watching my mailbox. It’s at the bottom of a steep hill and I am quite winded after a jog down and back. I wouldn’t want to deprive them of their amusement? Huffy puffy red faced neighbors are fun to watch.
